The police in Lagos, on Thursday said they have arrested a pastor for allegedly beheading a seven-year old boy and burying his head in the church’s altar. The command’s spokesman,  ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole,  confirmed the arrest to newsmen, stressing that the suspect was arrested with an accomplice at Ikorodu. Famous-Cole said the policemen arrested one  Eric , whose confession led to the arrest of the pastor and the recovery of the boy’s body. “On investigation, one of the suspects, Eric confessed to the crime. He led a team of policemen to Odokekere/ Odogunyan in Ikorodu area to apprehend Oyekan, who later led the team to where the seven-year-old boy was beheaded and his head buried. They hid the body inside canal. The two suspects involved have been arrested and the body and the head of the boy were brought to the station. The Niger Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested a suspected impersonator in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). “We have arrested one Mohammed Sani Musa suspected to have been hired to write the examination for another candidate at the Ibrahim  Babangida University  centre in Lapai,” the Commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, told newsmen. Ayuba, who spoke on Thursday in Minna, disclosed that the suspect was arrested by officers stationed at the centre. “We have interrogated the suspect and he has confessed to being hired from Nasarawa State by one Abdullahi Isa, who is still at Large,” he said. He said that the command was digging into the matter so as to bring those involved to justice . Ayuba, however, said that the exercise was hitch-free across the 14 centres in Niger.

A 55-year-old man, Prophet Alimi Isaiah, was yesterday, arraigned before an Iyaganku magistrate’s court, Ibadan, for allegedly being in possession of human skull and other fetish items. He was arraigned on a one count charge of unlawfully having a human skull in his possession. The prosecutor, Mr. Sunday Ogunremi, alleged that the accused on May 5, at about 9:10p.m. at Sango Road, Ibadan Magisterial District did unlawfully have in his possession one human skull. He stated that the offences contravened Sections 329(A) Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000. The accused, in his statement, told police that he is a prophet of a white garment church in Lagos and that he had not completed his apprenticeship before his friend lured him to join the pastoral job. The residents of the Umuchagu Osokwa community in Osisisoma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, have arrested a middle-aged man, identified as Christopher Nwajei, who beheaded his mother in the area. It was gathered that the suspect who is an apprentice welder, had on March 29, beheaded his mother, Cecilia, while she was preparing dinner at about 7.30p.m., on returning from the farm. The assailant reportedly collected some of her mother’s blood and fled the community. While speaking to a correspondent, a resident of the community, disclosed that the suspect was arrested in a bush on the outskirts of the community by a search party before he was handed over to police. Nwajei, who blamed the devil for the action, confessed to have beheaded his mother because she told him that he is not a native of the Umuchagu Osokwa village.
